The second Ghana Entrepreneurs Awards have been scheduled to take place on the 28th of April 2012 in Ghana’s capital Accra, the Ghana News Agency reported on Tuesday. The awards will honor Ghanian entrepreneurs who have demonstrated exemplary performance in their business set ups which have in turn contributed to the growth of Ghana’s economy alongside creation of jobs.
The Ghana National Chambers of Commerce and the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana are jointly organizing the event that will run on the theme “Unleashing Entrepreneurial Capabilities To Meet The Global Challenges Of The 21st Century”.
There will be 38 categories in total, including Lifetime Entrepreneur, Serial Entrepreneur, Young Entrepreneur and Overall Best Entrepreneur among others. Three corporate awards will be accorded to corporate institutions to recognize their efforts in supporting Ghanaian SMEs.
World Entrepreneurship Day
The first Ghana Entrepreneurs Awards was held on April 15, 2011; the same day the third World Entrepreneurship Day (WED) was celebrated worldwide. Started three years ago, the World Entrepreneurship Day is a 24 hour celebration of entrepreneurship and innovation, whose objective is to remind people around the world that it is indeed the unending resilience of entrepreneurs that has driven sluggish economies back to successful paths through innovation and job creation. Individuals, corporations, high schools, universities and organizations in countries around the world celebrate WED by organizing activities or events of their own choice to advance entrepreneurial ecosystems in their local settings.Entrepreneurs of any age and level can participate in WED.
